Name Change
No. We have chosen to change our name so that it better reflects our expanded member base. Several credit unions nationwide have pursued name changes following field of membership expansions. This is not the first time we have changed our name. With a charter expansion that now includes five counties in NY and one in VT and after exhaustive research; we chose a name that would be inclusive and welcoming to existing and new members in the new field of membership. We also wanted a name that resonated with our mountain lake geography. We believe our new name reflects the fact that this credit union is confidently here today, ready to be our members’ guide on life’s journey toward a better and financially secure life. Your member number(s) and account number(s) will remain the same. Absolutely! We have been a strong financial institution for over 65 years and continue to be. In fact, this re-brand will allow for continued growth and stability. Yes. The new name isn’t about outgrowing our roots or moving away from the things that are important to our team and members, it’s about helping folks in the next town over join the credit union family. We put careful thoughtful consideration into this. This allowed us to deplete many of our materials like letterhead, envelopes, and more. The new materials are a sound investment in our future growth. Neither your rates nor fees will be affected by the new name. Rates and fees do fluctuate, but they are adjusted in response to market conditions. Yes, our phone numbers and email addresses will remain the same. Once we officially change our name, the new name will be listed on the credit report with the addition of “formerly known as TrailNorth Federal Credit Union”. This will not affect your credit score. If you have an outside Bill Pay service, we recommend that you update the information to TrailNorth Federal Credit Union. Your accounts are still insured by the full faith and credit of the U.S. Government through the NCUA — National Credit Union Administration. The funds in your accounts at the credit union are insured up to $250,000. You can continue to use your existing loan coupons. However, effective January 1st, 2020 you may make checks payable to TrailNorth Federal Credit Union. Your next batch will reflect the new name. The look and color of the mobile app will change with our new logo and name. Everything else will remain the same. The name change will take effect on January 1st , 2020. Your loan will remain with the Credit Union. Your credit union is getting better! We are keeping your needs in mind and the future needs of the communities we serve. Same great service, new name and new look. There should be little impact to you as a member. Your member number(s) and account number(s) will remain the same, as will all of your products and services. You can continue to use your TrailNorth Federal Credit Union checks and deposit slips. When you run out of checks or deposit slips, your new ones will have the new name and logo. We will continue to use the same website address: www.tfcunow.com. You will notice a new name and new look but the web address will remain the same for the time being. All direct deposits, payroll deductions, automatic drafts and other ACH services are transmitted using the Credit Union's Routing number and your account number. Since these numbers have not changed, your payments should process without any change on your part. Our Routing number will remain the same. Our routing number is 221380457. Though there will be natural attrition in staff and board members, this name change will not require a change in staff or board. The new name isn’t about outgrowing our roots or moving away from the things that are important to our team and members. We are in a constant struggle to cut through the noise and be heard, and this less-is-more logo separates itself from the competition. The strategy behind this logo is built on navigating the financial world with a guide that understands the route to success. The logo a strong modern mark that reinforces both direction and security and incorporates the mountains and lakes in our geographic area. Your current card will continue to work until you receive your new TrailNorth card. VISA Credit Card Holders: • Active card users (members that have used their card in 2019) will be issued a new TrailNorth card during the beginning of 2020.To help folks in the next town over join the credit union family. In more than 65 years, we have grown from serving the workers of International Paper to now include membership to anyone that lives or works in Essex, Washington, Warren, Clinton and Franklin Counties in New York and Addison County in Vermont. We recently conducted a number of surveys- both of current members and those in outlying counties and communities.
